Lazy Uterus

Thursday May 19th, 9:23 pm.  STILL NO BABY.  Is it possible I have a lazy uterus?!

Starting at 36 weeks, I've had the option to have my cervix checked for dilation.  For the last four weeks I've politely declined.  I haven't felt any painful contractions so on Monday's 40 week appointment, my OB referred to my uterus as "lazy".  HAHA.  I finally caved and had her check my cervix on Wednesday (2 days past due).  Turns out I'm 2-3 cm dilated and 80% effaced!  BOOYA Dr. Spears, not so lazy after all!

Anyways, we've scheduled a medical induction for next Tuesday, May 24th at 7:30 am.  Pray the baby arrives before then.  I've tried various natural methods this week but to no avail!

Monday, May 16th:
  • prenatal massage - relaxation
  • spicy mapa tofu - stimulates the gut and bowel and encourages the uterus to contract
  • pineapple - contains enzyme bromelain which is thought to help soften cervix
Tuesday, May 17th:
  • walk - the pressure of the baby's head pressing down on the cervix from the inside stimulates the release of oxytocin
  • acupuncture - 18 very fine needles inserted in the ear, lower back, feet, ankles, hands, and shoulders used to stimulate energy within the body
Wednesday, May 18th:
  • strip membranes - remove the membranes around the amniotic sac, causing your body to naturally release hormones that begin labor
Thursday, May 19th:
  • acupressure - top pick for naturally inducing labor, acupuncture minus the needles, stimulates contractions
  •

  • red raspberry leaf tea - help prepare the uterine muscles for labour to start
Any other suggestions?

Our Home

We bought our house in 2008, a year before we got married.  There was significant water damage but thanks to a full year of my dad's hard work (dry walling, texturing, interior/exterior painting, new carpet, new wood floors, new bathrooms, etc.) our house is now a home.

For those of you who have never been to our home, here's a video we shot tonight...welcome to the Choi's!

At last!  After what seems like forever, we're finally done with the nursery.  Good thing Baby Choi is fashionably late because I just added the finishing touch today (a day past due date).

ONE MORE DAY!

So here we are...one more day until our due date and no Baby Choi (he/she is lazy like dad).  Sorry for the late update.  I've spent this past week working from home, finishing the nursery, cleaning and spending quality time with David.

Starting tomorrow (our due date) we'll have to start naturally inducing labor.  Doctor's order...spicy foods, acupressure, sex, and lots of walking.  I think we have one week before the doctor will force baby out with meds :(  I hope he/she comes before then!

Here are the results so far of the baby pool!  Losers are grayed out!

38 Weeks!

AH!  I can hardly believe it.  Only twelve more days until our due date!  I think I'm starting to waddle and I definitely feel like a balloon.  Someone asked me last week if I was having twins :(  WAH why me?!

Friday is my last day at work and I can't wait!  Even though I still plan to work from home, I'll have more time to rest, relax and hang out with David.

Babymoon

Babymoon a vacation taken by a couple that is expecting a baby in order to allow the couple to enjoy a final trip together before the many sleepless nights that usually accompany a newborn baby.

David and I took a short trip to Vail on Saturday, April 9th.  It was great to get away for a day.  On the way back we stopped by Blackhawk.  I lost $8 on the penny slots.

Enough snacks for a two week road trip.  I'm eating for two!

Update

These past couple of weeks have flown by and now there's only 3 more weeks until Baby Choi makes his/her big arrival.  Here's an update of the latest happenings...

On April 13th, we had our 35 week appointment.  Our doc suggested we do one last ultrasound to make sure the baby is head down and that the placenta is out of the way.  The good news is that everything is where it should be!  The bad news is that Baby Choi has possibly inherited David's monster nostrils and my huge lips...

Sweet Baby Choi @ 35 Weeks

Last Sunday (April 17th), I taught my last Sunday school class.  I'm sad to leave the youth group but maybe someday after baby gets older, I'll be able to teach again!  My 9th graders are so sweet...they wrote me a card and bought me a cake made of cupcakes!

Yesterday (April 22nd) was Good Friday.  David was able to administer communion for the first time ever.  We ordered a minister's robe for this special occasion!

Rev. David Choi or Harry Potter?
Currently (10:47 pm) David is watching game 3 of the Nuggets playoff like it's the end of the world.  He keeps yelling at the TV..."GOOD BOY!!", "PICK AND ROLL!", "GET HIM OUTTA THERE!"

I'll be glad when basketball season is OVER.

BAHAHA (please don't be mad at me)
